ACH payments top 18 billion in 2008 - The Electronic Payments Association reports that the number of ACH payments registered in 2008 has reached over 18.2 billion, growing by 1.2 billion over 2007.  The number of ACH network transactions has increased by over 7% year-on-year to close to 15 billion, with almost $30 trillion in value. During the period, payments via online ACH debits witnessed a 19.7% increase, reaching 2.1 billion. The value of online consumer ACH payments, including consumer initiated credit payments and debits totaled $939 billion in 2008.
